The online encyclopedia "Wickipedia" defines liberalism as "a political philosophy or worldview founded on ideas of liberty and equality. Liberals espouse a wide array of views depending on their understanding of these principles, but generally they support ideas such as free and fair elections, civil rights, freedom of the press, freedom of religion, free trade, and private property."
That's an interesting definition considering people who call themselves liberals today don't really believe in all of those. They believe in civil rights (as long as everyone agrees with their beliefs.) They believe in free and fair elections (as long as their liberal candidate wins.) They believe in freedom of the press (as long as the stories reported aren't negative toward their political or social beliefs.) They believe in freedom of religion (as long as religious people don't speak out or disagree with their political or social beliefs.) They believe in fair trade (when it comes to making their own living but don't let anyone make more money than the liberals believe is fair, lest they demand an end to capitalism. They also believe in redistribution of wealth - as long as that wealth belongs to someone else.) And they believe in private property (as long as there is some for everyone, otherwise the government should take it away.)
Progressives push social justice - "the belief and practice of ensuring that individuals both fulfill their societal roles and receive what is due from society." The ultimate goal of social justice is "to ensure everyone is provided for equally in education, health care, social security, labor rights, as well as a broader system of public services, progressive taxation and regulation of markets, to ensure fair distribution of wealth, equality of opportunity, and no gross inequality of outcome."
Liberals and progressives are the ones who believe it's OK for anyone and everyone to enter the United States, whether through lawful immigration or unlawful (illegal) immigration. "They're simply trying to make a better life for themselves and their families..." they will say. Really? I once knew a bank robber who told me he robbed the bank because he was unemployed and needed money to feed his family. He was "just trying to make a better life for himself and his family" by breaking the law. Guess where I met him? At the United States Penitentiary in Lompoc, California, where he was doing 10 years for bank robbery. Illegal activity is illegal activity and demands punishment.
Liberal progressives demand that we no longer use the term "illegal" when talking about people who are breaking the law by being in the country illegally. "No human being is illegal," they say. They know what the terms "illegal alien" or "illegal immigrant" mean - that they are in the country in violation of federal law. They spin it to make people think the term "illegal" refers to the person himself and not his status in the country. That's what liberal progressives do - they tell half-truths and untruths to further their causes.
Merriam-Webster defines illegal as: contrary to or forbidden by law. They define undocumented as: not having the appropriate legal document (as in a visa or green card, which is the legal way for a non-citizen to be in the country.) And they define alien as: a non-citizen inhabitant of a country.
If you put them all together, a so called "undocumented alien" is one who does not have the paperwork to be in the country legally, which is a crime, thus making him an "illegal alien."
Immigration is defined as: the movement of people into another country or region to which they are not native in order to settle there, especially as permanent residents or future citizens.
Illegal immigration refers to the migration of people across national borders, or the residence of foreign nationals in a country, in a way that violates the immigration laws of the destination country. These people don't particularly have plans to become citizens. They simply want to take advantage of the opportunities in this country without taking the responsibility to do it the right way. They are criminals. And they should not be rewarded for their illegal actions by being granted amnesty or free services from the government, local, state or federal.
Remember the guy in federal prison? Should he have been given food stamps, a driver's license, health care, etc., after robbing the bank because he was trying to make a better life for his family? For those who would say "yes" - would you feel the same way if instead of robbing a bank he came to your house and robbed you? And for that matter - what if a family of "undocumented immigrants" moved into your home while you were on vacation. It happens all the time in Arizona. Homes that are empty suddenly become the home of transient illegal aliens. So what are you going to do when you return from your two week vacation and your home is occupied by another family? Call the police? Have them arrested? Why? You invited them to come here!
Illegal immigration is just that - illegal. Call it whatever you choose to soften it but it's still illegal. And I shall call it such when I talk about those who are in this country illegally. Be dishonest with yourself and others if it makes you feel better. I'm an honest man. And honest men don't spin the truth just to feel better about themselves.
