FOX News host Megyn Kelly the other night revealed a new discovery about the President's Affordable Care Act. According to Kelly, you can shop and compare policies and prices on the government web site (if you can get in, that is) but you can't purchase insurance. There is no link on the web site that allows you to pay for it.
In response, the government said insurance companies would simply “estimate” the cost of each healthcare plan when Americans enroll and then the government would “true up” the difference at a later time.
I'm not sure exactly what that means but it certainly doesn't sound like something I would want to do. I thought the whole idea was to make it possible and easy for people to purchase health insurance? The insurance companies will estimate the cost and the government will true up the difference? So after three solid years of lies from the President and the Democrats about health care we're now supposed to believe the government is going to make everything OK with our purchases? I'm thinking not...
Supporters of Obama and Obamacare keep saying we shouldn't worry about the web site - it's the law that is so beneficial to the American people. Really? Let's look at both. The web site hasn't worked properly since day 1, back in October. Two months, numerous promises and a billion dollars later it still doesn't do what it's supposed to do.
The law itself was (supposedly) designed to assist 30 to 40 million uninsured Americans in obtaining affordable health insurance for themselves and their families. According to the numbers, about 1 million people have accessed the site. Of those, about 60,000 have signed up and of those 60,000 - most have signed up for medicare. In the meantime, over 5 million have had their policies cancelled because of Obamacare. And that number, after the President's illegal extension expires, is estimated to go up by about 20 times. (The CBO predicts that up to 100 million people could lose their employer based coverage next year.) And even if it stays at 5 million - that's 5 million who lost their coverage compared to 60,000 who obtained it. Those numbers just don't add up to success.
In other Obamacare news - Nancy Pelosi recently made a comment about people losing hours at work because of Obamacare. "Employers cutting hours is a good thing," Pelosi said. "It then gives that person time to pursue their dreams and passions."
One simply cannot help but wonder how this woman has a job...?
