As the mainstream media and Democrats continue to pretend
there’s nothing to it, the Congressional investigation into the IRS targeting
conservative groups continues to uncover more and more evidence of wrongdoing
that stretches all the way to the White House.
When the scandal first became public, Jay Carney (the administration's "paid liar" according to Congressman Darryl Issa) categorically denied that the White House had any knowledge of the IRS
actions. Unfortunately for Jay, the
Congressional investigation has revealed that the White House did know about it
and, in fact, may have been deeply involved.
IRS employees called to testify have said that as far as they were told,
all files they forwarded to the White House were requested by same. We now know that the White House Legal
Counsel, Kathryn Ruemmler, and former White House Chief of Staff, Jack Lew, were
informed of the targeting last year, prior to the election. It has also been revealed that President
Obama’s deputy campaign manager, Stephanie Cutter, was aware of the IRS
targeting.
It is now known that Stephanie Cutter was in many of the
meetings the IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman.
In Cutter’s own words on Jake Tapper’s show recently: "I was in them
with him so there was nothing nefarious going on."
Now I don’t know about you but that makes me feel much
better. After all, Stephanie Cutter was
involved with the Obama Super PAC that made the commercial, during the
campaign, in which steelworker Joe Soptic recounted how his wife died of cancer
after he lost his health insurance when his plant was shuttered after a
takeover by Bain Capital and other companies working with Romney's private
equity firm. Every bit of it turned out
to be lies.
Is there a chance the President didn’t know about it? I would say yes. Think about it – if members of the Obama
inner circle were directing (or at least encouraging) the IRS to target
conservative political action groups during the race for the presidency, why
would they tell the President? If they
told him he could become entangled in an investigation and end up taking the
same route as Richard Nixon. (He still
could, by the way.) If they didn’t tell
him if gives him plausible deniability.
Even if some of his staff are charged, it’s very possible he can honestly
deny knowledge of any wrongdoing because his staff protected him during the
campaign. What I don’t believe, however,
is that after the election they didn’t tell him and that he didn’t know about
it at all until it became public.
Stephanie Cutter telling us that “nothing nefarious was
going on” during the meetings of the IRS Commissioner and the White House
(notice they never say who in the White House?) is about as trustworthy as
President Obama appointing Eric Holder to investigate the Justice Department in
the AP/press phone records seizure.
Holder testified before Congress that he knew nothing about the
investigation, that it was his assistant who was in charge of it. Yet the Congressional investigation has
revealed that Eric Holder himself signed off on a search warrant for FOX News’
White House Correspondent James Rosen’s phone records and private e-mails. In the warrant, which was denied by two
judges prior to being approved by a third, Rosen was depicted as “a possible
co-conspirator” and “a flight risk” in violations of the Espionage Act.
The Justice Department later said they were never going to
go after Rosen with espionage charges.
So it seems that not only did Holder lie to Congress about knowledge of
the investigation but that he also lied to the judge to get the warrant
approved. And this from our Attorney
General? (Really, is anyone surprised?)
In early news this morning, it has been announced that
National Security Advisor Tom Donilon will be stepping down and UN ambassador Susan
Rice will be appointed to take his place.
It seems Susan Rice will finally reap her reward for her blind loyalty
to the President. Rice, who is better
known for putting out false information about Benghazi than for being a UN
Ambassador, does not have to be confirmed by the Senate to become the National
Security Advisor so the President will finally be able to pay her back without
any real opposition. But can someone,
anyone, tell me what qualifications she has to be the National Security
Advisor? Wait, what am I saying? Qualifications and experience don’t matter
with this administration….
