Harry Reid: "The Borders Are Secure"

That's what he said in a press conference yesterday.  "The border is secure. [Sen.] Martin Heinrich talked to the caucus today. He’s a border state senator. He said he can say without any equivocation the border is secure," Reid told reporters.

Really? In what world, Senator?

Let's look at the definition of the word "secure."  Merriam-Webster defines it as "free from or not exposed to danger or harm; safe. 2. dependable; firm; not liable to fail, yield, or become displaced."

I guess if you pick and choose the words you use to define "secure" you can almost say Reid is telling the truth. The border itself is not exposed to danger or harm. You can't really harm an imaginary line. And as of yet that imaginary line hasn't been displaced. It has simply been erased to the point where people from outside the country can easily step over it without much consequence.

If you look at the rest of the words in the definition: "safe, dependable, firm, not liable to fail, yield or become displaced," then it's easy to see that Harry Reid is probably out of his mind. Kids are dying during their efforts to get across the river into the USA. With hundreds of thousands of people crossing illegally into the country every year it's certainly not dependable or firm. In fact it is yielding to the illegals daily - which means total failure.

But then - Harry's not the first Democrat to declare the borders secure. Last week Representative Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) told reporters that "Everything is under control at the border." Apparently Congresswoman Lee lives in the same fairytale world as Harry.

Remember when former DHS Secretary Janet (Big Sis) Napolitano declared "The borders are safer than ever," right after she had the Bureau of Land Management erect signs in Southern Arizona warning Americans not to venture within 100 miles of the borders for fear of their safety? The signs warned of “active drug and human smuggling area” and they may encounter ““armed criminals and smuggling vehicles traveling at high rates of speed.” The signs told American citizens in their own country to “use public lands north of Interstate 8” and to call 911 if they “see suspicious activity.”

Certainly the borders are safer - safer for the drug cartels and the human traffickers. All thanks to the Obama administration.

The President, other Democrats, and even liberal "news" agencies are lying to the American people daily about the border and about the long term effects of so many people entering the country illegally. The New York Times said Sunday that the "crisis on the border is a myth." Of course - the Democrats see huge numbers of illegals given amnesty in the future thus increasing the dependent Democrat voting base. What reason the New York Times has for lying about the borders only they know. But one thing is certain - they and other liberal media outlets are assisting the Obama administration in pushing us toward a totalitarian government.
