Don't Burn My Flag!

Tomorrow is July 4th - American Independence Day. Two hundred thirty-nine years ago, tomorrow, the founding fathers, along with most of the colonists, announced their independence from Great Britain via the Declaration of Independence.

With that document the colonists spelled out their intention to form their own independent country, free of the rule of the King of England. Thomas Jefferson wrote the document and began with:

When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness, That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.

Now, we could stop here and debate the fact that when the Declaration was written the phrase "all men are created equal" wasn't exactly true in the fledgling nation. Blacks and Native Americans were not included in that phrase. It took nearly 100 years for blacks to be considered even close to equal and nearly 150 years for Native Americans to become citizens of the United States. 

We can't change history, no matter how shameful some of it is. But my post isn't about slavery or injustices committed by Americans living in a different time in history. It's about the flag and what she stands for today.

It is purported that Betsy Ross sewed the first flag in 1776. Sadly, there is no documentation to prove she did or she didn't - only the word of her family, who said she got a visit from George Washington, Robert Morris and George Ross, the uncle of her late husband in May or June of that year and was asked to make the flag. 

Over the years the flag has changed with the addition of one star for each new state to the original 13 stars. The 13 stripes, representing the original 13 colonies, have remained intact.

The American flag has waved for freedom not only here in this country but in nations around the world. Everyone my age or older recognizes the photo of the raising of the flag on Iwo Jima by the Marines during World War 2. And without the United States Europe would never have defeated Hitler. We have helped liberate countries, rebuild countries, and help countries maintain their sovereignty when they were attacked by other nations.

I said the Pledge of Allegiance five days a week during my school days. When I was 19, I pledged my allegiance to the nation for which it stands and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. I spent a total of 8 years in the Air Force and loved every minute of it. I still remember my first retreat ceremony in Basic Training. Standing at attention in the Texas heat, saluting as the flag was lowered and the bugle played Retreat. I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one with goose bumps and a tear in the eye.

Following my military service I worked for the next 22 years with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. I spent 30 years in service to the people of our country and that flag was a part of it every day. I'm proud of our flag and for its meaning and symbolism. So when someone desecrates it in any way I get a little upset.

In 1989, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that burning the flag was protected under the First Amendment. What they failed to do was get patriots to agree with them. Most people I know who served in the military won't stand idly by and allow someone to desecrate our flag in any way. 

Never was such patriotism better demonstrated than in Brooklyn, New York, the other day. A small group of ingrates decided they were going to burn an American flag in protest of the New York Police Department. They made the mistake of advertising it on social media. A group of motorcycle enthusiasts (commonly called bikers) showed up to pay their respects. Except many of them were veterans of the military. 

When one of the ingrates attempted to set the flag on fire one of the veterans snatched it away and put it out. Some of them began threatening the physical safety of the protesters who, in a typical act of cowardice, sought protection behind some of the very police they were demonstrating against. It seems they weren't quite ready to sacrifice themselves for their beliefs.

There are patriots all over the United States, many with prior military service, who will not stand idly by and allow someone to burn the American flag. We will support your right to do it since the Supreme Court said it's your right. But we'll still stop you. 

Don't burn my flag. It didn't do anything to you. On this Independence Day I proudly sing the words to Lee Greenwood's awesome song and tribute to the greatest nation on Earth:

If tomorrow all the things were gone I'd worked for all my life

And I had to start again with just my children and my wife

I'd thank my lucky stars to be living here today

Cause that flag still stands for freedom and you can't take that away

And I'm proud to be and American, where at least I know I'm free.

And I won't forget the men who died - who gave that right to me

And I'll gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today

Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land....

A Texas Good-bye

I told you all that I would still post here. I found this absolutely worth sharing.

I have researched this as it sounds unbelievable. All information I can find indicates that it's true. Chris Kyle is a hero to many but particularly in his home state of Texas. Some of those with whom he served know they are alive today because of Kyle's dedication to duty.

I didn't write it. It came to me in an e-mail from my father-in-law, a fellow Texan. At this time the author is unknown. I wish I had written it but honestly - besides the fact that the funeral was held in Cowboys' Stadium and the long procession to Austin drew thousands of supporters, I had no idea about the generosity of Kyle's fellow Texans nor the prestigious visitors that would call on Chris' wife, Taya, her family, and the gathered Navy SEALs. God bless them all and God bless Texas.


A Texas Good-bye

I just wanted to share with you all that out of a horrible tragedy we were blessed by so many people. Chris was Derek's teammate through 10 years of training and battle. They both suffer/suffered from PTSD to some extent and took great care of each other because of it. 2006 in Ramadi was horrible for young men that never had any more aggressive physical contact with another human than on a Texas football field.

They lost many friends. Chris became the armed services number #1 sniper of all time. Not something he was happy about, other than the fact that in so doing, he saved a lot of American lives. Three years ago, his wife Taya asked him to leave the SEAL teams as he had a huge bounty on his head by Al Qaeda. He did and wrote the book "The American Sniper." 100% of the proceeds from the book went to two of the SEAL families who had lost their sons in Iraq . That was the guy Chris was. He formed a company in Dallas to train military, police and I think firemen as far as protecting themselves in difficult situations. He also formed a foundation to work with military people suffering
from PTSD. Chris was a giver not a taker.

He along with a friend and neighbor, Chad Littlefield, were murdered trying to help a young man that had served six months in Iraq and claiming to have PTSD.

Now I need to tell you about all of the blessings.

Southwest Airlines flew in any SEAL and their family from any airport they flew into free of charge. The employees donated buddy passes and one lady worked for four days without much of a break to see that it happened. Volunteers were at both airports in Dallas to drive them to the hotel.

The Marriott Hotel reduced their rates to $45 a night and cleared the hotel for only SEALs and family. The Midlothian , TX. Police Department paid the $45 a night for each room. I would guess there were about 200 people staying at the hotel, 100 of them SEALs. Two large buses were chartered (an unknown donor paid the bill) to transport people to the different events and they also had a few rental cars (donated). The police and secret service were on duty 24 hours during the stay at our hotel.

At the house the Texas DPS parked a large motor home in front to block the view from reporters. It remained there the entire five days for the SEALs to congregate in and all to use the restroom so as not to have to go in the house. Taya, their two small children and both sets of parents were staying in the home. Only a hand full of SEALs went into the home as they had different duties and meetings were held sometimes on a hourly basis. It was a huge coordination of many different events and security. Derek was assigned to be a pall bearer, to escort Chris' body when it was transferred from Midlothian Funeral Home to Arlington Funeral Home and to be with Taya. A tough job.

Taya seldom came out of her bedroom. The home was full with people from the church and other family members that would come each day to help. I spent one morning in a bedroom with Chris' mom and the next morning with Chad Littlefield's parents (the other man murdered with Chris). A tough job.

George W Bush and his wife Laura met and talked to everyone. The Seal Team one on one. They went behind closed doors with Taya for quite a while. They had prayer with us all. You can tell when people were sincere and caring

Nolan Ryan sent his cooking team, a huge grill and lots of steaks, chicken and hamburgers. They set up in the front yard and fed people all day long including the 200 SEALs and their families. The next day a local BBQ restaurant set up a buffet in front of the house and fed all once again. Food was plentiful and all were taken care of. The family's church kept those inside the house well fed.

Jerry Jones, the man everyone loves to hate, was a rock star. He made sure that we all were taken care of. His wife and he were just making sure everyone was taken care of....Class... He donated use of Cowboy Stadium for the services as it was determined that so many wanted to attend. The charter buses transported us to the stadium on Monday at 10:30 am. Every car, bus, motorcycle was searched with bomb dogs and police. I am not sure if kooks were making threats trying to make a name for themselves or if so many SEALs in one place was a security risk, I don't know. We willingly obliged. No purses into the stadium!

We were taken to The Legends room high up and a large buffet was available. That was for about 300 people. We were growing.

A Medal of Honor recipient was there, lots of secret service and police and Sarah Palin and her husband. She looked nice, this was a very formal military service.

The service started at 1:00 pm and when we were escorted onto the field I was shocked. We heard that about 10,000 people had come to attend also. They were seated in the stadium seats behind us. It was a beautiful and emotional service.

Bagpipe and drum corps were wonderful and the A&M mens' choir stood through the entire service and sang right at the end. We were all in tears.

The next day was the 200-mile procession from Midlothian , TX to Austin for burial. It was a cold, drizzly, windy day, but the people were out. We had dozens of police motorcycles riders, freedom riders five chartered buses and lots of cars. You had to have a pass to be in the procession and still it was huge. Two helicopters circled the procession with snipers sitting out the side door for protection. It was the longest funeral procession ever in the state of Texas . People were everywhere. The entire route was shut down ahead of us, the people were lined up on the side of the road the entire way. Firemen down on one knee, police officers holding their hats over their hearts, children waving flags, veterans saluting as we went by.

Every bridge had fire trucks with large flags displayed from their tall ladders, people all along the entire 200 miles standing in the cold weather. It was so heartwarming.

Taya rode in the hearse with Chris' body so Derek rode the route with us. I was so grateful to have that time with him.

The service was at Texas National Cemetery. Very few are buried there and you have to apply to get in. It is people from Civil War, Medal of Honor winners, a few from the Alamo and all the historical people of Texas.

It was a nice service and the Freedom Riders surrounded the outside of the entire cemetery to keep the crazy church people from Kansas that protest at military funerals away from us.

Each SEAL put his Trident (metal SEAL badge) on the top of Chris' casket one at a time. A lot hit it in with one blow. Derek was the only one to take four taps to put his in and it was almost like he was caressing it as he did it. Another tearful moment.

After the service Governor Rick Perry and his wife, Anita, invited us to the governor's mansion. She stood at the door and greeted each of us individually and gave each of the SEALs a coin of Texas (she was a sincere, compassionate, and gracious hostess). We were able to tour the ground floor and then went into the garden for beverages and BBQ. So many of the team guys said that after they get out they are moving to Texas . They remarked that they had never felt so much love and hospitality. The charter buses then took the guys to the airport to catch their returning flights. 

Derek just now called and after a 20 hours flight he is back in his spot, in a dangerous land on the other side of the world, protecting America.

To my knowledge, President Obama has never acknowledged Chris Kyle's death nor his service to the United States of America. He sent no representative(s) to the funeral. He did, however, send representatives to the funerals of Michael Brown and Freddie Gray - two men who didn't really contribute much to society. During his State of the Union Address in 2014, President Obama acknowledged victims of gun violence such as Trayvon Martin and Hadiya Pendleton, the teenage girl in Chicago who was killed by a stray bullet just weeks after being a part of Obama's inauguration celebration. He calls celebrity sports stars and praises them as heroes for coming out of the closet - even praising them on national television. Yet he never once called Taya Kyle to offer condolences and thank her for her family's contributions to our national security.

And some people wonder why a guy like me has little respect for our Commander-in-Chief.

My Blog Is About To Change...

I didn't want to say anything until it was official but my blog is about to change. And by changing I mean it will be used less frequently.

Last week, at the suggestion of my friend Ron Rose, I submitted one of my blog posts to theFederalistPapers.org - a conservative news page. They not only accepted my submission for publication but yesterday I signed a contract to be one of their writers! I have been hoping and trying to get my stuff published somewhere and finally it has happened.

I will still write articles for my blog but most of my writing will now be done for the web page. I have published 1062 articles here since October of 2010 and have accumulated over 73,000 page views. Writing for theFederalistPapers.org I will (hopefully) gain a much larger audience and have a wide variety of topics to write about.

I thank all of you who read my stuff and for the comments and encouragement you have provided along the way. I will keep posting here but my posts will be more human interest stuff and far less politics. And since I have submitted my first article to the web page (waiting for it to be reviewed and published) you will soon be able to follow me there, if you're interested.

Rattlesnake Logic

I got this the other day as an e-mail and found it interesting. It's been around before – I've read it before. But with things going the way they are these days I found it more pertinent than ever. I wish I'd written it but I can't take credit for it.


As long as we insist on maintaining the "moral high ground" we will never win the war on terrorism. we're in a conflict in which we insist on playing by the rules against a maniacal group who have no rules.

It's time for some rattlesnake logic....

After the Boston bombing the news media spent days and weeks trying to determine why these men did what they did. They want to know what America did(!) to make these brothers so angry with us. They want to know why these men were not arrested before they did something so terrible. The media is in a tizzy about this new era of homegrown radicals and about why and how they can live among us and still hate us.

A friend of mine here in Texas explained it all to me: “Here in West Texas, I have rattlesnakes on my place, living among us. I have killed a rattlesnake on the front porch. I have killed a rattlesnake on the back porch. I have killed rattlesnakes in the barn, in the shop and on the driveway. In fact, I kill every rattlesnake I encounter. Most of the time they warn me they are around.

“I kill rattlesnakes because I know a rattlesnake will bite me and inject me with poison. I don’t stop to wonder why a rattlesnake will bite me; I know it will bite me because it's a rattlesnake and that's what rattlesnakes do. I don’t try to reason with a rattlesnake or have a "meaningful dialogue" with it…I just kill it. I don’t try to get to know the rattlesnake better so I can find a way to live with the rattlesnakes and convince them not to bite me. I just kill them. I don’t quiz a rattlesnake to see if I can find out where the other snakes are, because (a) it won’t tell me and (b) I already know they live on my place. So, I just kill the rattlesnake and move on to the next one.

“I don’t look for ways I might be able to change the rattlesnake to a non-poisonous rat snake...I just kill it. Oh, and on occasion, I accidentally kill a rat snake because I thought it was a rattlesnake at the time. Also, I know for every rattlesnake I kill, two more are lurking out there in the brush. In my lifetime I will never be able to rid my place of rattlesnakes.

“Do I fear them? Not really. Do I respect what they can do to me and my family? Yes!! And because of that respect, I give them the fair justice they deserve....I kill them...As a country, we should start giving more thought to the fact that these jihadists' are warning the world their goal is to kill Americans and destroy our way of life. They have just posted two graphic videos on the internet showing them beheading Americans. They are serious. They are exactly like rattlesnakes. It is high time for us to start acting accordingly!”

I love this country. It's the government I'm afraid of! Look who's new in the White House!

I couldn't have said it better myself. America needs to wake up and understand what Islam is about - before it's too late. Political correctness will be the death of the United States. If you think Islam can't be a problem here in America take a good look at Great Britain. They didn't believe it either. Now they have this:

One Consequence In McKinney, Texas

McKinney, Texas, police Corporal, Eric Casebolt, responded to a call of trespassing and fighting at a private neighborhood swimming pool last week. When he arrived he found chaos. A group of teenagers, mostly black, were running around, ignoring police instructions to either leave the area or sit down until the officers could investigate what exactly was going on. Officer Casebolt's actions with a 15 year old girl who refused to leave and resisted attempts to detain her resulted in him resigning from his job. But was that a good thing?

Casebolt himself, speaking through his attorney, said he let his emotions get the better of him. But what caused that to happen?

According to his attorney, Eric Casebolt, a 10 year veteran of the department, began his shift by responding to a suicide call. A man had just shot himself and Casebolt had to attempt to console the grieving widow. He also had to assist in photographing the body. I have no idea what condition the body was in, as in where the man shot himself, but chances are it wasn't a pretty sight. And if you don't see things like that on a regular basis it can greatly affect you.

Casebolt's second call of the day was to a home where a young teenage girl was on the roof of her parents' home threatening to jump. Casebolt was able to talk to the girl and calm her down, thus preventing her from jumping and helping her down from the roof. No one knows whether or not she would have jumped but Casebolt quite possibly saved her life.

Then he responded to a mob situation where he encountered a belligerent teenage girl, whom he ended up wrestling to the ground. He drew his service weapon when to boys ran up on him (while he was on the ground with the girl) - one of whom put his hand behind his back as they approached Casebolt.

A short video of those two things, a mere 1/5th of the entire incident, ended up on the national news and Casebolt is not only out of a job, he's in hiding with his family due to death threats. One black actor, a man by the name of Dennis L.A. White, took to Twitter to launch a threat against Casebolt.

“We have associates looking for #EricCasebolt family,” his first tweet read. He followed up with “What if we found Eric Casebolt’s family and beat up the young girls in it?” after which he made this menacing statement: “If you live in McKinney, find his family.”

Really? Find his family? Has America really sunk that low - Hollywood actors calling for the family of a police officer to be attacked because of an incident that the black residents of the neighborhood have all said had nothing to do with race? And if Casebolt's family is found and assaulted or terrorized will Mr. White (an unfortunate name for him, I'm sure) be held responsible? 

The sad consequence of this incident is that an experienced officer, who likely saved a life that very day, won't be there to save another one because of one short and isolated incident. Like Darren Wilson, Casebolt really did nothing wrong yet he had to resign his position and go into hiding because some black citizens decided he needs to die for his actions. 

Is it any wonder that police across the nation are somewhat afraid of being proactive in their fight against crime when cops are being prosecuted, threatened and forced to resign even when they do the right thing?

We'll never know if a future life in McKinney could have been saved by Eric Casebolt. But I have no doubt one could have been if it wasn't for the hatred some people have for white police officers today. And we don't have to look very far to determine the reason for that.

The Latest Craze In Political Correctness

There is a new twist in the effort to make everyone politically correct so that no one ever feels any negative feelings about anything, ever. OK - it's not really new but it is making a strong comeback lately. I call it the latest craze because that's what it is - a bit crazy.

I'm talking, of course, about "micro aggression," defined as "the everyday verbal, nonverbal, and environmental slights, snubs, or insults, whether intentional or unintentional, which communicate hostile, derogatory, or negative messages to target persons based solely upon their marginalized group membership."

That's a lot of words to say that micro aggression is pretty much anything and everything you do or say that might offend someone in some way. There are examples below that I found in several articles. Rather than micro aggression, most of them I would chalk up to human ignorance. But see - the people pushing micro aggression say you can do it without even knowing you're doing it. That way they can include nearly everyone - although most of the examples given seem to be whites being aggressive on minorities.

Here are just a few of the examples given in a chart.

Examples of Racial Microaggressions

"When Asian Americans and Latino Americans are assumed to be foreign-born “Where are you from?” “Where were you born?” “You speak good English.” A person asking an Asian American to teach them words in their native language."

The message this is supposedly sending is "You are not American You are a foreigner."

What it says to me: "That person is ignorant of the real world and the diversity of our nation."

Assigning intelligence to a person of color on the basis of their race. '“You are a credit to your race.” “You are so articulate.” Asking an Asian person to help with a Math or Science problem."'

What they are supposedly saying: "People of color are generally not as intelligent as Whites. It is unusual for someone of your race to be intelligent. All Asians are intelligent and good in Math / Sciences."

What it says to me: "The first person is a racist who believes, for whatever reason, that black people have an inferior intellect just because they're black. Again - stupidity. Perhaps he/she should meet Ben Carson or the President of the United States. And while Asians are statistically more successful in school, including math, than the average white American - it's mostly because they have a determination instilled in them through their family values, which is far more common in Asians than in white families in the US. And that's a good thing for them - not so much for us white folks."

To me it seems a complement to a person to automatically believe they ares more intelligent than you (in a particular subject or in general) rather than aggressive. But that's me.

 Color Blindness Statements that indicate that a White person does not want to acknowledge race:

“When I look at you, I don’t see color.” “America is a melting pot.” “There is only one race, the human race.”

What is supposedly means: Denying a person of color’s racial / ethnic experiences. Assimilate / acculturate to the dominant culture. Denying the individual as a racial / cultural being.

What it means to me: While saying it out loud may be a little ridiculous, there are people who really can get past the color barrier in a relationship. One of the best compliments I ever got was from a woman I was seeing years ago. An old friend of mine was in town and I invited him over for dinner. We had an enjoyable evening and after he left she said to me "You didn't tell me he was black." I was somewhat surprised and my answer was "It never occurred to me." John and I had been friends for nearly 10 years. Back then we worked together. We went to the gym together. Our boys had played together as kids and we socialized in each other's homes on a regular basis. There was no color barrier between us and, as such, I never had in inclination to tell anyone he was black. It wasn't important.

The old saying "There is only one race - the human race," is a wonderful concept. Would that we could all feel that way. But we live in a country where we've gone from "melting pot" of assimilation to a country that promotes division by magnifying race, color, nationality, sexual orientation, etc., and then attempting for force people to accept and embrace anything and everything. We have become hyphenated Americans. We have become LGBT Americans and if you're not LGBT or don't embrace LGBT then you are a bigot and a homophobe. At least - so says the politically correct crowd.

Criminality – assumption of criminal status A person of color is presumed to be dangerous, criminal, or deviant on the basis of their race. A White man or woman clutching their purse or checking their wallet as a Black or Latino approaches or passes. A store owner following a customer of color around the store. A White person waits to ride the next elevator when a person of color is on it.

What it supposedly means: "You are a criminal. You are going to steal / You are poor / You do not belong / You are dangerous."

This one is difficult to get around because many people who are not black or Latino do feel this way. And whether or not it's fair, much of it can be explained by every day occurrences. Black crime in the United States is off the chart - particularly in the inner cities. The black murder rate is exponentially high. According to FBI statistics, blacks assault and/or kill whites at a higher rate than the other way around. Gang activity is high among both blacks and Latinos, again - mostly in the inner cities. So yeah, I think it's understandable to a point. News media is all about sensationalism.

Denial of individual racism A statement made when Whites deny their racial biases “I’m not a racist. I have several Black friends.” “As a woman, I know what you go through as a racial minority.” 

What it supposedly means: "I am immune to races because I have friends of color. Your racial oppression is no different than my gender oppression. I can’t be a racist. I’m like you." 

What it means to me: I think there is far too much emphasis on our differences in today's society. As I said above - we are supposed to be a melting pot. A melting pot, by definition, is a pot in which various metals melt down and combine into one. Can you imagine what the tensile strength of steel would be if the metals didn't actually combine and instead maintained their separate qualities? It wouldn't be as strong nor as reliable. It would break apart with increased pressure and tension. And I believe that's where we're headed as a country because of political correctness.

Here's one of my favorites: Statements which assert that race does not play a role in life successes “I believe the most qualified person should get the job.” “Everyone can succeed in this society, if they work hard enough.” 

What it supposedly means: "People of color are given extra unfair benefits because of their race. People of color are lazy and / or incompetent and need to work harder."

What it means to me: The job should go to the most qualified person regardless of race, color, ethnicity. That's how a free market society works. You get educated and you work hard to become qualified for the position on your application. Why should the job go to someone less qualified - to meet a quota? That's simple, ridiculous, political correctness.

As for the second sentence - there are people who feel that way. But that's just stupid bigotry, nothing more. Dr. Ben Carson and Oprah Winfrey have proved, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that people of color can make it big if they work hard. You don't get to be a neurosurgeon without hard work. And Oprah certainly didn't have anything handed to her.

I could go on. There are many different "micro aggressions" listed. Some are race based, some are gender based and some are sexually based. And I'm sure there are thousands of them pertaining to any and all other differences that people have. The point is that most of these micro aggressions are simple ignorance and not meant to be aggressive or insulting in any manner.

America is turning into a nation of pantywaists (that's probably a micro aggressive word in and of itself) these days. Everyone is so sensitive that they're offended and get their feelings hurt by anything and everything. You can't disagree with a person's lifestyle or or their preferences or even the things they do because you're labeled by the PC police as a bigot or a hater or some other ridiculous label. When the reality is that you're human and you make mistakes. And you don't spend every hour of every day planning your speech and/or your actions so that nothing you say or do will in any way offend anyone at any time.

Who lives their lives like that? Wait - I know...  the PC police!

Trying to please everyone all the time, or trying to keep from offending anyone all the time, is crazy. People are human. They get offended. They get over it and life goes on. Kids today are being taught that they have the right not to ever be offended by anyone. Maybe not in so many words but that's the message society is putting out.

Those of you my age - remember back when you were kids and you got into fights, verbal and even physical fights, with your friends and as soon as it was over you forgot about it and were friends again? Remember when your Little League or Pee Wee team lost and you actually had to congratulate the team that beat you? Remember when you lost and you didn't get a trophy and it just made you work harder the next year to win?

Well - no longer. These days losing is harmful to a child's inner well being and cannot be allowed - lest he or she learn that sometimes the real world hurts. And these kids will one day be running things. I wonder who they're going to run crying to the first time they actually have to face a painful experience...?

The Obama Legacy... Turning Everything Into Racism

I'm watching the news this week and once again there are racist, white cops abusing poor, innocent black people, this time teenagers who were just trying to go for a swim and have a good time. They were simply minding their own business and were doing nothing wrong when the McKinney PD showed up on a mission to pick on black kids....

Or so black activists and the main stream media (basically one in the same) would have you believe. But what's really true?

On Friday evening in a housing development in McKinney, Texas, a small group of high school graduates hosted a party for their neighbors and some invited guests at their private (HOA owned) neighborhood swimming pool. It is unknown right now how many kids were invited but the HOA rules limit guests to 2 per family.

They apparently hired a DJ who, once he was there, began sending out notices on Twitter inviting people to come to the party for $15 each. He had no authority to do that (and I hope the Homeowner's Association sues him for it.) Kids who were not properly invited began arriving and when they were refused entry they began climbing over the fence. Arguments ensued, the security staff was allegedly assaulted, and at least one fight broke out between white and black.

Police were called to the scene. (They didn't just show up - they were called.) As they tried to learn the truth about what was going on they attempted to get the mob of kids to sit down while they investigated the situation. Many refused. Some began running, others began yelling at the police. When they refused to sit down and cooperate at least one officer began physically putting them on the ground.

One young lady, seen in the video wandering in and around the scene, was told at least three times by the officer to leave the area. Twice she began walking away then returned. The last time he told her to leave he was very aggressive, yelling and using profanity. The girl started to walk away again then stopped, turned around and began yelling at the officer. It appears that the officer had had enough and he decided to detain her. When he grabbed her arm the girl, like Eric Garner in New York, tried to pull away from him. That action constituted resisting, which gave him the right to use force if necessary. (When you resist a police officer you invite the use of force.)

The officer put the girl on the ground and instructed her to stay put. She kept trying to get up, by now calling for her mother. The officer kept telling her to stay down.

During the ensuing struggle two young men ran up on the officer from his right side. The video clearly shows that the one on the left, closest to the officer, in the blue t-shirt, put his left hand behind his back for a moment just as he neared the officer. The video also shows the officer noticing that. That's when he released the girl, stood up and drew his weapon - obviously fearing for his safety.

The picture from the video is fuzzy but you can see the kid's left hand almost behind his back. It actually got there.

Both of them turned and retreated - the one in the blue shirt running away around the corner. The officer never once pointed his weapon at anyone and kept it pointed at the ground the entire time. But his actions of drawing the weapon served its purpose - the two would-be attackers retreated and were no longer a threat of any kind.

Now the BlackLivesMatter activists are organizing protests in the neighborhood and the New Black Panthers have arrived on the scene. (They actually beat Sharpton there. Sharpton is slipping.) And it's being reported that some protesters and their young children are burning American flags.

I don't really understand why the BlackLivesMatter folks are protesting since no one was killed. And since at least one of the people who called the police was black - it seems he felt that his neighborhood mattered more than

Residents of the neighborhood, both white and black, are reporting death threats being made against those who support the actions of the police. That's the problem with black activists who want to make everything about racism. They decry violence against them by advocating violence against others.

This incident was a case of unruly kids being where they weren't supposed to be and refusing to follow the instructions of adult residents of the neighborhood, security officials and police. But in Obama's America, where even the President himself vilifies the police as bullies and racists, it has become normal and almost acceptable to challenge the police then blame the police for whatever happens. In Obama's America, where even the President and his wife get on international TV and talk about how bad they have it because they're black, racial animosity in the country has grown by leaps and bounds.

In Obama's America you now have black law enforcement officers turning against white law enforcement officers. You have black college students challenging others to walk on the American flag. And you have people screaming about how black lives matter even as they ignore the black genocide that is going on in our major cities.

This is Obama's legacy. The "great uniter" will be remembered in history as setting race relations back five decades in only 8 years. Yet some will still praise him.
