Gun Control is Not the Answer

There is no such thing as "gun violence." There is only human violence. Guns are inanimate tools sometimes used by violent people to commit atrocious acts. Guns do not fire themselves. Human interaction is necessary. (Some will say "I dropped my gun and it fired by itself." Um... no. It was being handled by a human, who dropped it. And that rarely occurs with the weapons today.)

People who use guns to randomly kill others are either evil or mentally ill... sometimes both. The Dallas Morning News said the people who were killed at the Allen Mall "weren't killed because evil walked among them." They blame the gun.... and showed their shear, biased stupidity.

Simple fact: Guns only kill when aimed and fired by humans. I've trained with, used and owned guns for over 40 years. None of my guns have ever harmed anyone. Why, if the Dallas Morning News says the gun is the culprit? How is that possible? Simple... guns don't operate themselves.

After the mall incident, the Texas House passed a bill raising the age of purchase of a gun to 21. The mall shooter was 33 years old. Someone explain how that new bill would have prevented the incident? Beside the fact that the bill is unconstitutional, since owning a gun as an adult is a Constitutional right and by law, 18 year olds are legal adults. You cannot legally pass laws that deprive specific groups of their Constitutional rights.

Whether or not 18 year olds should be legal adults is another topic. But it is the law of the land. If you're legally authorized to vote and defend you're country you are legally allowed to own a gun. The Texas bill, if signed into law (highly doubtful), will be challenged in court and anulled if heard by a judge who follows the Constitution.

Gun control is not the answer and will never be the answer. That's simple fact. Texas is going to improve their mental health programs. That's the way to go. Preventing people from wanting to kill is far better than trying to prevent law-abiding citizens from being able to protect themselves and their families.
