Obama Gets Another Pass And Democrats Continue To Fear Ted Cruz...

There are always topics in the news that pique my interest and like other bloggers, I often get my topics from them.  This week has not only been no exception but seems to be extraordinarily good for blog topics.  I’ll cover a few of them today.

On Tuesday, liberal pundit and formerly funny Bill Mahar said that President Obama shouldn’t have lied to the American people about not losing their coverage because of Obamacare.  It seems someone got to Mr. Mahar though because yesterday he began to spin his words into “President Obama had to lie about Obamacare because of the Republicans.”  It seems Mr. Mahar wants you to believe that since the Republicans were against Obamacare the only way to get it passed was to lie about it.

Certainly the Republicans were against Obamacare.  So were 72% of Americans.  But the Republicans weren’t out there saying things that weren’t true.  Based on what they knew even back then they were saying that people would lose their insurance policies and their doctors if and when the law passed.  According to Bill Mahar it was necessary for the President to lie about those things because otherwise the Republicans could have prevented the bill from passing by telling the truth about it.  Gee – what a concept – telling the truth.  The White House and Democrats in general are still either denying Obama lied or trying to justify it by blaming Republicans.  How do people continue to support these people?

Yesterday on Rachael Maddow’s show, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said “I hope Ted Cruz gets the Republican nomination for President.  He is for everything that America isn’t.”  Really, Harry?  Let’s look at that a little more closely.

Ted Cruz is against Obamacare as are 52% of Americans in general.  Ted Cruz was elected to go to Washington and fight against Obamacare.  He’s doing it.

Ted Cruz is a conservative.  Over 50% of Americans call themselves conservatives.  The majority of Americans call themselves conservatives.

Ted Cruz is for smaller, less intrusive government.  A majority of Americans are for smaller government.

Ted Cruz is keeping his campaign promises.  The majority of Americans, both liberal and conservative, wants their elected officials to keep their campaign promises.

Ted Cruz is against growing entitlements.  Sadly – this is one where he may soon be on the minority side as more and more Americans become dependent on government.  Recent studies reveal that if you count the number of people receiving unemployment, welfare, child subsidies, Social Security, Medicare and Medicaide and any other government subsidies, that number is now larger than the group of people who are actually working for a living and contributing to the economy of the country.  (OK – Nancy Pelosi said unemployment was an economic stimulus and I suppose, in her warped little mind, she believes that.  Why not put the whole country on unemployment then?  Let’s start with her, Harry Reid, Barack Obama, Mitch McConnel, John McCain, Lindsay Graham, etc…)

So Harry – it seems you might not quite be accurate when you talk about what the majority of Americans want.  I bet if it was put to a vote the majority of Americans wouldn’t want you.  Maybe Nevada does but you’re from Sin City.  That’s not a surprise.  And it puts you in company with San Francisco and Nancy Pelosi.

Speaking of Ted Cruz – with all of the other things going on in the country and the world, the Senate decided to make “Stand Your Ground Laws” a priority this week.  God knows there’s nothing more important to focus on right now like say…  jobs, Obamacare, the budget, the economy…   Nah – let’s make the “Stand Your Ground Law” a priority and turn it into a racial issue within the Senate.

Yesterday, Sybrina Fulton, the grieving mother of Trayvon Martin, was called to testify in a Senate hearing about the “Stand Your Ground” law.  She said the law “certainly did not work in my case” and that she “wanted to put a face with what has happened in this tragedy.”

I feel for Sybrina Fulton.  No one knows better than I what it feels like to lose your 17 year old son to tragedy.  My son wasn’t shot but that doesn’t make my loss any less than hers.  I know what she is going through as far as loss.  But she didn’t lose her son because of “Stand Your Ground.”  George Zimmerman shot Trayvon Martin after being attacked by the bigger young man and out of fear for his life.  The jury agreed and found Zimmerman not guilty.  To bring Mrs. Fulton into the Senate to testify was merely a ploy by the Democrats to gain sympathy for their cause – a cause which most Americans on both sides oppose.

Ted Cruz was in a difficult position.  He had to oppose Mrs. Fulton’s testimony while being honestly sympathetic to her grief.  Any parent and sympathize with another’s loss of a child.  It breaks one’s heart even to think about it.  But that doesn’t mean that because someone loses a child a law that covers everyone should be changed.  Cruz correctly pointed out that the Stand Your Ground” law has been used successfully many times in the state of Florida by African-American defendants.  More successfully than not according to statistics.  So if that’s the case, the “Stand Your Ground” law is obviously and definitely not racially biased, regardless of what the Democrats and the national race baiters might say.  Of course, the race baiters make money from saying things like that and the Democrats try to turn every issue into a racial issue if at all possible.

So you see – it’s been a busy week.  There is more out there what with 60 Minutes coming out last week with their expose’ on Benghazi, in which they blamed Obama and Hillary Clinton without actually saying their names.  And given the recent proof that Obama either lied or deliberately hid the truth about Obamacare – is it really very difficult for his supporters to admit he lied about Benghazi?   Really – did anyone ever believe the video story?

  1. I would vote for Ted Cruz in a New York minute. Why? He represents my views.
    99% of politicians do not.

  2. Not only does he represent my views but, as I said, he keeps his promises and works to do what he said he would do. I was honored to vote for him last year and will do so again.
